Life distinguishes animals and plants from matter. It includes the capacity for growth, reproduction, functional activity, and continual change preceding death. Similar concepts include: existence; being; entity; sentience, creation, etc. Life contrasts with death; non-existence; nothingness etc. Life also includes: vitality; vigour; energy etc.
Life can be usefully described as: physical; mental and social. Of course, as lived, it includes all three and all the time. It can be useful, however, to differentiate them for specific purposes. We will use what ever suits. Not to worry. This will do for the time being.
